the best analogy i have for cryptocurrency is that its like one guy burning your entire villages supply of wood to turn them into invisible beanie babies

@dankwraith and I'm pretty sure at this point it is easier to counterfeit a crypto currency than it is to counterfeit regular money, for at least some well-positioned people. And they are aided by a false claim of "It's impossible to hack the blockchain!*"

*unless someone controls 51% of the visible network, which happens regularly

@dankwraith idea: minecraft mod that is just a very inefficient furnace that makes emeralds when you burn stuff in it.
But it takes between 2560 and 10240 things burned to get 1 emerald. The value is random, and the more you burn the harder it gets to make an emerald.
