dev i know is probably gonna go with unity for a new project in direct contradiction to my advice he asked for. i don't even care at this point, i'm done trying to convince lemmings to stop flinging themselves off the unity cliff

@dankwraith oof.

I don't know much about it, but had looked at it in the past. I'm going to trust your judgement and avoid it, but what do you dislike about it? If you don't mind me asking.

@diffractie @dankwraith could I additionally ask what engine you prefer over Unity?

@marie_joseph @diffractie i'm using (and contributing to!) FNA. it's barebones and fast and thats the way i like it.

@dankwraith @marie_joseph oooh, I shall have a look at that!

I'm dabbling in XNA/Monogame stuff because it seemed barebones enough for me to learn something.

@diffractie @marie_joseph they're both reimplementations of the XNA4 library. FNA focuses on accuracy

@diffractie it's a busted ass architecture, a complete black box, the physics system is held together with duct tape and wire, so many weird frame timing issues that are difficult or impossible to solve, garbage asset processing system, bloated as hell, 7 year old graphics bugs in there that will never be fixed. jank jank jank.
