everyone knows about the "but then who is the real nazi???" argument about refusing to tolerate fascist ideas. i would like to draw attention to the lesser known, but equally bad, argument which implies that perceiving any nuance whatsoever in a conflict is a slippery slope to tolerating fascism


the point of making fun of people who say you always have to consider both sides isnt the fact that theyre considering "both sides" - its the fact that one of the sides is _literal nazis_. being able to consider multiple angles of a situation doesnt mean you have to throw away your ethical standards
