I'm sorry I'm able to explain this.
The boring explanation: a continous vector space on the surface of a sphere (or something topologicaly the same) must have at least 2 zero values (the two tufts that can't be flattened).
So imagine wind. Wind has speed and direction, so that's a continous vector space. The hairy ball theorem says at any time there must be at least two points on the Earth's surface when there is absolutely no wind.
