weird thing is, on different occasions, I've both heard people use BOTH "white is the absence of all color" (in pigment-mixing color theory) AND "white is the combination of all colors" (in light-mixing color theory), to dispute the use of black to represent nonbinary or 'neutral' gender

this is surreal because black is the absence of all color (in light-mixing color theory) AND the combination of all colors (in pigment-mixing color theory)

sounds like that's not why 'white' is 'neutral' 🤔
